Our mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife, for the benefit of the earth’s biological diversity.
Our mission
We protect and enhance the natural environment in Snohomish County, on Camano Island, and across Washington through four approaches: education, community science, advocacy, and community activism.
Education
Through monthly programs, outreach presentations, and classroom grants for teachers, we reach thousands of adults and youth in our community, sharing the joy of birds and how everyone can help local birds thrive, including at our annual Puget Sound Bird Fest in Edmonds.
Community science
Through Vaux’s Happening, our regional Vaux’s Swift roost monitoring program, volunteers help track where these migratory birds gather each migration, building a long-term dataset that researchers, educators, and land managers can use.
Advocacy
We give birds a voice in public decisions, regularly submitting comment letters and signing coalition letters on forests, wetlands, and endangered species protections. See our recent letters.
Community activism
We take part in stakeholder and advisory committees and work alongside partner organizations, so that birds have a seat at the table where land-use decisions are made.
How we do it
Pilchuck Audubon Society (PAS) is a grassroots, member-supported conservation organization serving Snohomish County and Camano Island. We are a chapter of the National Audubon Society and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in Washington State.
