2020 Birdathon

This year’s Birdathon will be May 1-31!

Join us in our most exciting fundraiser of the year! Birdathon is a friendly competition to see who can see the most birds and raise the most money while doing it.

What is Birdathon:

Birdathon is a uniquely Audubon way to help protect native birds. It is a friendly competition to see who can see the most birds and raise the most money while doing it. Similar to a walk-a-thon, participants collect pledges from family, friends, work colleagues, and others who want to support Pilchuck Audubon. But instead of getting a pledge of $1.00 per mile walked, bird enthusiasts ask for a pledge for each bird seen by a person or team.

Birdathon is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and is certainly our most exciting!

How to Participate:

There are a number of ways you can get involved in this important fundraiser for Pilchuck Audubon and support our future programs.

Big Day: Individual or team event (up to 4 people per team). They will choose a 24-hour period between May 1-May 31, 2020 to see as many species within Snohomish County and Camano Island as possible. Team members must bird together (i.e., teams cannot have 2 members birding Camano Island and 2 members birding Snohomish County simultaneously).

Big Sit: Individual or team event (up to 4 people per team). They will choose a 200-foot diameter circle within Snohomish County or Camano Island from which to view or hear birds for up to 24-hours.

Big Month: This is for an individual or team of 2 people. They will be able to bird the entire state of Washington between May 1 and May 31. Team members must bird together (i.e., teams cannot have 1 member birding Camano Island and 1 member birding in eastern Washington simultaneously).

Photo Contest: This is for individuals (photographers may also participate in one of the other team competitions above). Enter our photography contest to showcase your best bird photos! With categories for adult and youth, this contest is for everyone! Prizes for the top 3 places in each category, plus a People’s Choice award! For more rules and how to enter, visit our contest page.

Be a Sponsor: Maybe you don’t have time to participate this year, or you just really want to support the passion of your friend or family member. You can pledge to support someone you know, or even a participant you don’t know! Find our list of teams below and let them know you’d like to support their team this year!
