Community activism and advocacy are fundamental aspects to our mission. We strive to provide a voice for birds in our communities by engaging in stakeholder and advisory committees, drafting letters for or against proposed actions, and adding our name to coalition letters.

Stakeholder and Advisory Committees
Lord Hill Regional Park Stakeholder Group (2017-present)
PAS’ involvement with Lord Hill Regional Park extends back to 1988 when the original Master Plan was adopted, at which time we had a representative on the Advisory Committee for the development of the plan.
Since 2017, we have been actively involved in advocating for the protection of Lord Hill Regional Park. In particular, we are advocating to ensure the original intent of the park is managed as stated in that original Master Plan: preserve the natural, undeveloped character of Lord Hill and protect wildlife and their associated habitats; and discourage development in the interior of the site.

Lord Hill Regional Park (LHRP) Bird Survey (2017)
On June 25, 2017, in response to proposed use changes at LHRP, we conducted a single-day bird census to identify the diversity and general abundance of species using the park for breeding, foraging, and refuge in June 2017. The purpose of this survey was to provide relevant data to be used in informing the current LHRP Master Planning process underway at the time by the Snohomish County Parks and Recreation Department.
